Frequently Asked Questions
A carpet cleaner tried to clean a small area rug I have in the foyer and the colors bled. Can this be fixed?
Unfortunately, we see this kind of dye damage fairly often. The presprays used in carpet cleaning are much too high a pH to be safe for use on most area rugs. Combine it with the hot water used, and it creates a quick opportunity for the colors to run.
We can’t guarantee 100% restoration, but more often than not, dyes can be corrected enough to make the dye bleed much harder to find, keeping your rug useable and avoiding the need for replacement.
